How J's Painting got started

Justin spent 15 years painting for someone else before going independent.

I started painting young, working for a local outfit. Fifteen years later, I was running their jobs but couldn't shake the feeling that I'd do a few things differently if it were my company. So I started J's Painting.

What's different? Mostly small stuff that adds up. We get to the job site when we said we would. We send daily updates instead of going dark for a week. We tape and cover before we sand, instead of figuring drop cloths are someone else's problem. None of it's flashy, but customers notice.

We work across the Quad Cities: Davenport, Bettendorf, Eldridge, Moline, Rock Island, and the smaller towns around them. If your project's a bit further out, ask. We've taken jobs in LeClaire and beyond when the project was right.

How we work

  • On time

If I said 8, I'm there at 8. If something changes, you'll hear about it before the day starts.

  • Real prep

Sand, fill, caulk, prime. The paint only lasts if the work underneath does.

  • Daily updates

You'll hear from me at the end of each day, even if it's just to say nothing changed.

  • Tidy worksite

Drop cloths down, plastic where it counts, vacuum on the way out.

FAQs

The questions I get most

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. I'll come look at the project, walk through what it needs, and write up a number.

No charge and no pressure to book.

What areas do you cover?

The Quad Cities: Davenport, Bettendorf, Eldridge, Park View, Moline, East Moline, Coal Valley, Colona, and Rock Island.

If you're a bit outside that, ask. I've taken jobs in LeClaire and beyond when the project's right.

How long will my project take?

Depends on the size and what kind of prep is needed. A single interior room is often a couple of days. Cabinet refinishing usually runs a few days to a week.

I'll give you a timeline before we start and update you if anything changes.

What kind of prep do you do?

Whatever the surface needs. That can mean sanding, caulking, priming, drywall repair, or pulling old wallpaper.

We cover floors and furniture, tape off trim, and hang plastic to keep dust and pets out of the work zone.

What if something needs a touch-up later?

Reach out.

If it's something we missed or didn't hold up the way it should have, we'll come back and make it right.

How do payments work?

Cash or credit card. I'll go over the breakdown with you before any work starts.

No surprises at the end.

How do I get started?

Call or text (563) 639-4152, or fill out the contact form.

I usually get back to you the same day to set up a time to walk through your project.

I'll come look, write up a free estimate, and lay out what it'll take.
